Intense beekeeping and wildfires are harming Turkey’s bees
Turkey’s bee populations are under enormous pressure. In the country’s southwest corner in Mugla Provice, wildfires have wiped out much of the bees’ natural habitats.
Intense beekeeping practices are adding to the problem making the bees unhealthy and unable to fly. Conservationists are worried without bees our plants can’t be polinated putting whole ecosystems under threat.
Michela Strachan visits the areas damaged by the fires and meets a beekeper who shows her how to keep bees the natural way.
